What's in the bag:

Acid Buf is made from the sustainably harvested calcified skeleton of red seaweed (Lithothamnion calcareum) and provides a unique source of highly bioavailable calcium and magnesium with superior buffering capacity.

This helps with stabilising the hindgut pH and maintaining this over a prolonged period of time, reducing the risk of acidosis and digestive upset, while also supporting optimal fibre fermentation and nutrient absorption.

The result? Improved digestive comfort, better feed efficiency, and more consistent performance.
During fast bursts of energy and work, a horse’s body is using anaerobic metabolism which is fuelled by key carbohydrates, which are stored in the horse’s body as glycogen within their muscles. These carbohydrates come from grains like oats and barley which contain highly digestible starch that is then absorbed as glucose and converted to glycogen.

Performance horses that do a range of fast work and slow work need these key carbohydrate sources as well as slow-release energy sources like fibre and fat.

Lysine is an essential amino acid, which means horses can only get lysine through their diet. Lysine is needed for protein synthesis, and if not getting enough lysine, it can restrict protein availability. So, if a horse is getting protein, but deficient in lysine, they can still be protein deficient.

Another essential amino acid, methionine supports the health and integrity of a horse’s tendons, ligaments, connective tissues and joints. Methionine is also a building block of keratin, which is needed to form healthy hair and hooves.

Vitamin E is fat-soluble vitamin and an antioxidant, and high levels are needed for horses with poor quality hay or pasture or horses that have undergone stress & training. Vitamin E is needed to support the horse’s immune system and protect cells, reducing tissue inflammation and protecting from free radicals.
